Thank you for visiting my website, a hyperlocal love letter to being outside.

My name is Adrienne Adventure Briggs, but people call me Dren or sometimes Drenergy, or Adventure. Yes, my real actual middle name on my driver’s license and passport is Adventure. Of course, I chose that as my middle name. It wasn’t some romantic kismet from having unbelievably cool parents. I got up in front of a judge during a hearing and said, yes, I do want to change my name, and no, I am not a criminal. He agreed, and here I am.

I’ve been blogging for about 15 years. You can still find some of my old posts about the best kayaking spots in West Michigan, Manistee National Forest roads to avoid, and which instant coffee is best for backpacking. Very important stuff.

Now that most of my outdoor time is trail running and hiking or involves my kids, that’s generally what I’ll post about. I deleted my Meta apps, moved to Bluesky, and fired up the ol’ WordPress site under a new name. Ta-da!

I’ll revamp some of those old campground and park reviews along with giving new race reports and publishing my go-to guides for things like race travel checklists and what I put in my emergency kit.
